Harvest with heart Collection Days at Community Garden 2024

The South Zone Community Garden Committee accepted a proposal in 2021 for an initiative, Harvest with Heart to help address food scarcity in our city.  A committee was formed and through our efforts in the past 3 years we have collected over 4500lb of fresh produce to the Regina Food Bank and last year Core Ritchie Food Store.

Food Scarcity has been and continues to be prevalent in our community. As the cost-of-living increases people have had to rely more heavily on community resources to help feed their families.

Harvest with Heart is an opportunity to donate produce to local organizations that offers it back to the community at no cost.  We have Donation Days where we collect fresh produce from gardeners.  We have many wonderful volunteers on hand to wash and prepare produce so it can be used promptly.

We have chosen the Regina Food Bank as they have a strong distribution system and the can reach many organizations that we couldn’t with the resources we have.

There are two dates that you can donate at the Garden between rows K & L (by the gazebo).

August 17, 2024  (back up August 24) 9:00-12:00
September 7, 2024 (back up September 14) 9:00- 12:00

If you are unable to donate on these days you can donate produce to many wonderful and helpful organizations throughout our community.
